This extraordinary journey is presented by Mayors for a Guaranteed Income (MGI) and Counties for a Guaranteed Income (CGI), a network of elected leaders advocating for guaranteed income across the nation.

It’s Basic: Guaranteed Income Works
Each tour stop includes a screening of It’s Basic, a feature-length documentary exploring the power of cash and the importance of dignity, through the eyes of guaranteed income recipients who have experienced firsthand the life-altering effects of financial stability. Mayors Melvin Carter (Saint Paul, MN) and Sumbul Siddiqui (Cambridge, MA), two pioneers in piloting guaranteed income programs, contribute their invaluable insights on the pivotal role of local leadership in creating a more just and equitable society.
Directed by Marc Levin and executive produced by Mayors for a Guaranteed Income Founder Michael Tubbs, It's Basic made its global premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. It is a powerful call to action for policymakers to invest in guaranteed income to close the income gap, improve resilience during crises, and give people the opportunity to build a more stable life.
